KATHUA, Jan 4: Member Legislative Assembly, Kathua, Dr. Bharat Bhushan today inspected two ongoing developmental works in Shiva Nagar, Kathua worth Rs 80 lakh.
He first inspected drainage work in Lower Shiva Nagar being executed under UT Capex at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh. This drainage work envisages construction of a covered drain extending from District Employment Office Complex to Shani Mandir. The construction of covered drain / concrete Nallah in Lower Shiva Nagar will improve sanitation in the Shiva Nagar area, prevent flow of drainage water into Kathua Ravi Canal and help in minimizing contamination of the Canal water which is used by thousands of farmers for cattle and farming practices who use this water down the line.
The residents of the area will get much needed relief from insanitation, stagnated dirty water and stinking smell.
Then MLA inspected protection work on Kathua Ravi canal which is being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh. This protection work will provide safe passage from Information Department Office to Shree Gurudwara Har Govind Sahib in Kathua. Earlier this stretch was a source of frequent accidents and claimed lives of many cattle also.
The residents of Shiva Nagar, Patel Nagar and Morning walkers have appreciated MLA for taking up these two developmental works.
Later MLA inaugurated a Borewell in Mukherjee Chowk Kathua near Shree Raghunath Temple in the presence of former councilor, Karan Singh, Ramesh Bharti , Raj Kumar – both social activists and other prominent persons of the area . This Borewell has been funded by MLA out of Constituency Development Fund (CDF). This Borewell will augment drinking water supply position in area.
