JAMMU, Aug 30: The recent flash floods in the Tawi River have severely damaged the Sitlee Filtration Plant, leading to a disruption of the regular water supply to thousands of residents in Jammu West. To assess the damage and review the ongoing operations, MLA Jammu West Arvind Gupta visited the plant, accompanied by senior officials.
Gupta was joined by Xen Civil City Division-I Tejinder Pal Singh, AEE Civil Pankaj Mohan Sharma and JEs Civil Randip Singh, Amit Pal Singh and Vikram Raina. From the Mechanical Wing, AEE Pankaj Sharma, along with JEs Bhupinder Singh, Jagdev Singh and Sunit Singh, were also present for the inspection.
During his visit, Gupta thoroughly reviewed the water purification process, operational machinery and the extent of damage caused by the floods. He was briefed on the challenges faced in maintaining an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water to the public, especially after the damage to the rising mains from Sitlee to Manda and Lohar. As a result, several areas in Jammu West will continue to face water supply disruptions.
Gupta advised the public to use water judiciously until full restoration is achieved. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized that the Sitlee Filtration Plant is a critical lifeline for thousands of households. “Our priority is to restore full functionality at the earliest to ensure clean drinking water,” Gupta stated. He also stressed the need for regular monitoring and upgrading of the city’s water supply infrastructure.
Concluding his visit, Gupta reaffirmed his commitment to improving civic amenities in Jammu West, ensuring every household has access to clean and safe drinking water.
