KATHUA, June 27: In a function organised by Social Welfare Department, MLA Kathua, Dr. Bharat Bhushan here today handed over scooties to differently abled persons.
The event witnessed the participation by a large number of differently abled persons, other beneficiaries of Social Welfare Schemes, officials of Social Welfare Department and officials from Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALMCOI).
District Social Welfare Officer, Varun Chaudhary said the department is engaged in assessment camps to identify beneficiaries of various schemes and till date 500 persons have been identified for assistance in the form of motorized tricycles, hearing aids, improved walking sticks for visually impaired and for other assistance.
Hasnain Khan-officer from ALMCOI also spoke on the occasion.
After this, Dr. Bharat Bhushan handed over keys of the scooties to six identified differently abled persons (including three females).
Improved wheel chairs, walking sticks, hearing devices, knee protective caps for aged and infirm and tricycles to identified beneficiary were also distributed on this occasion.
Prominent social activists present on the occasion included Indu Rekha, Shingara Singh, Dilawar Singh, G.D Manyal, Lalit Kangla and Vinod Kumar Shinda former Councillor of Municipal Council, Kathua.
