NEW DELHI, June 16: MLA Kathua, Dr Bharat Bhushan met Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh in the national capital today and urged him to intervene for the restoration of train stoppages at Kathua railway station.
During the meeting, Dr Bhushan highlighted the daily struggle of over two thousand passengers, including Government employees and pilgrims, who travel between Kathua and Jammu.
He pointed out that before the COVID-19 pandemic, trains like Kanpur Central, Archana Express, Sambalpur Express, Subedar Ganj SF Express, and others had regular halts at Kathua. However, these stoppages were withdrawn during the pandemic and have not been restored since.
The MLA expressed gratitude to Dr Jitendra Singh for facilitating the operation of two Vande Bharat trains on the route but stressed that resuming the earlier stoppages would significantly ease travel for daily commuters and pilgrims visiting the Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
Dr Jitendra Singh acknowledged the issue and assured the MLA that he would take up the matter with the Ministry of Railways at the earliest.
