KATHUA, Aug 28: MLA Basohli, Darshan Singh visited landslide affected areas of tehsil Basholi to assess the ground situation in which nearly 100 houses were damaged, besides numbers of link roads have been washed away at various locations.
He said numbers of school buildings and Government office buildings, electric poles and lines were damaged.
Darshan Singh visited to Panchayat Dhar Jhankar village Samund, Rehan Panchayat with Tehsildar and entire team of Revenue Department to assess the losses.
Following the situation tents were distributed and free ration and relief was given to the affected families.
The affected people of Rehan Panchayat met with MLA and sought help and support after the natural disaster posed heavy loss . MLA asked the Revenue team to understand the urgency of the situation and take immediate measures to provide relief to the affected families.
He also visited Adhat Panchayat, where houses were damaged due to landslide. MLA distributed tents and relief material to the affected families.
As many houses were damaged due to landslide in Ghagrore Panchayat and tents were distributed to the affected families to provide them immediate relief and shelter in safer place
Thakur Darshan Singh also visited other affected area of the constituency and visited ward number one of Raihan Panchayat, where houses are completely under the grip of landslide and it is not safe for them to live. To solve this problem, he contacted DC Kathua and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and said soon arrangements will be made to settle these families in a safe place.
Thakur Darshan Singh said that due to heavy rains in Mandla, houses were damaged and people were shifted to Radha Swami Ashram and one week’s free ration was given to affected families by him.
He said that all efforts are made to help the affected families and tents and free ration is given to them. The PWD, Electric Department, PHE Department were asked to restore the essential service which are affected due to heavy rainfall and due to floods in Basholi constituency.
He has also asked to LG Manoj Sinha and CM Omar Abdullah to sanctioned relief and compensation to rehabilitate the affected families and restore the road network in affected areas.
