SRINAGAR, Sep 19: MLA Bani, Dr. Rameshwar Singh, met Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today in Srinagar to discuss the extensive damage caused by recent heavy rainfall in Bani and surrounding areas. The meeting focused on the urgent need for relief and rehabilitation for families affected by landslides and unstable terrain.
Dr. Singh briefed the Chief Minister about the mass land sliding reported in several vulnerable locations, including Moar, Padetar, Nandh Najote, and Majra Kanthal. Highlighting the immediate risks, he emphasized that these areas have become unsafe for residential purposes, leaving hundreds of families exposed to potential hazards.
In his appeal, Dr. Singh proposed that the Government allot 5 Marla plots to each affected family to ensure safe and permanent resettlement. He stressed that swift Government intervention is critical to protect lives and restore normalcy in these regions. “Our priority must be the safety and security of the residents. Timely action will prevent further loss and help affected families rebuild their lives with dignity,” he stated.
Responding to the concerns, CM Omar Abdullah assured Dr. Singh of full Government support for the rehabilitation efforts. He confirmed that he would personally visit some of the most affected areas shortly to assess the situation on the ground. “The Government is committed to taking immediate and effective measures. We will ensure that no family suffers due to these natural calamities,” the Chief Minister affirmed.
The meeting highlighted the urgent need for coordinated action between local representatives and the State administration to address the aftermath of natural disasters effectively. Dr. Singh’s proactive approach and the Chief Minister’s assurance signal a strong commitment to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of residents in rain-affected areas.
