MLA Bani lays emphasis on education of Gaddi Sippi tribes

RAMBAN, Dec 31: MLA Bani, Jewan Lal today laid emphasis on the significance of education in the development of the Gaddi Sippi tribes and exhorted the community to provide quality education to their children.
The MLA was speaking during a meeting of the All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association, which was held today here at village Sana, wherein he was invited as the chief guest. The meeting was presided over by State president of the association, Parveen Jaryal and attended by a huge number of community members from different Gaddi Sippi inhabited areas of districts Ramban, Doda, Udhampur and Kathua.
During the meeting, speakers threw light and dealt at length on various issues and problems being faced by Gaddi and Sippi communities which need sympatheic consideration and immediate redressal by the Government.
While speaking on the occasion, Parveen Jaryal lambasted all the successive State Governments for adopting discriminatory attitude and ignoring the interests of Gaddi and Sippi tribes since independence. He held all the successive State Governments responsible for pathetic and miserable condition of these twin tribes.
He demanded establishment of Gaddi Sippi Advisory Board at par with Gujjar Bakerwal Advisory Board, establishment of Gaddi Sippi Hostels on the pattern of Gujjar Bakerwal hostels, facility of pre-matric ST scholarship for Gaddi Sippi students, abolition of sub-categories of ST category, recognition of Gaddi tribal language in 6th schedule of the Constitution of J&K, establishment of offsite campus of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (MP) at Jammu, grant of ST status to Gaddi speaking Kolis, earmarking of funds for development of Gaddi and Sippi tribes in annual budget of the State.
In his address, Jewan Lal said that the demands projected by the community are basic and genuine and assured that he will make all possible endeavors to get these demands conceded by the Government. He also stated that he will also raise the issues of the community on the floor of the Assembly in the ensuing Budget session of the State Assembly.
