GOOL, Sept 14: MLA Banihal, Sajjad Shaheen along with DDC Chairperson Ramban here today visited land sinking areas to take stock of the damages.
Sixteen families in Gool were left devastated after their homes were badly damaged due to land sinking triggered by recent heavy rains and flash floods.
Shaheen also visited Government Degree College Gool where the affected families have been temporarily accommodated. He interacted with them, listened to their grievances and assured that they will receive full support.
Sharing his deep anguish over the tragedy, Shaheen said: “My heart goes out to the families who have lost their homes. I assure them that they will not be left alone and every possible step will be taken to ensure their relief, shelter and rehabilitation.”
As an immediate support, Shaheen announced Rs. 10 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the rehabilitation of the affected families.
He urged the District Administration to provide temporary shelters, food supplies and medical assistance to the calamity hit families without any delay.
The MLA also called for a proper survey of the damages to ensure timely compensation.
