MLA announces ambulance, infrastructure for PHC Chhatraal

POONCH, Nov 6: In an effort to upgrade and improve health infrastructure in Mendhar block, Member Legislative Assembly Mendhar, Javed Ahmed Rana, announced an ambulance for Primary Health Centre Chattraal and fabricated waiting hall, canteen and an additional room for blood storage in Sub District Hospital (SDH) Mendhar out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
The MLA made these announcements while chairing a meeting of Governing Body of Rogi Kalyan Samiti at Mendhar wherein various issues primarily with regard to upkeep and functioning of Sub-District Hospital and other health institutions in the block were discussed.
Underscoring the need for expanding outreach of schemes designed to improve health care in the rural areas, the MLA said that efficient health care has to be the top priority and coordinated efforts are required to upgrade the infrastructural and diagnostic facilities in the block.
He expressed concern over delay in completion of infrastructural projects in health sector and asked the concerned department to proceed against the executing agencies under law who have abandoned the allotted works inspite of adequate funds with the department.
The MLA also reviewed the supply position of medicines besides taking stock of functioning of various disciplines in the SDH.
Emphasizing the role of ASHA workers in reaching out to the targeted segments of society, he asked the CMO to put in place an ASHA performance tracking system for effective mother-child care.
The MLA expressed concern over non-availability of gynecologist in the Sub District Hospital and asked the CMO to immediately project the vacancies in SDH keeping in view the problems being faced by people. He also asked him to project other demands like digital X-Ray and 50KV Gen Set for SDH to concerned department.
