JAMMU, Nov 11: Mission Shakti, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Social Welfare Department, organized an awareness session on “Personal Safety and Empowerment of Specially-Abled Children” at Muskan Home for Intellectually disabled children.
The program aimed to educate and sensitize specially-abled children about personal safety measures and ways to build self-confidence. The session highlighted the importance of self-awareness, maintaining personal boundaries and recognizing unsafe situations.
Dr. Bharti Tandon, Associate Professor and Deputy Head, MIER College served as the resource person and interacted with the children through engaging and interactive activities.
Shagun Manchanda, District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti, emphasized that empowering specially-abled children is a crucial step towards building an inclusive and safe environment where every child can live with dignity.
The session concluded with a counselling session for the staff members of Muskan Home, focusing on effective techniques and best practices to support and empower children with special needs.Others present were Fabiyaan and Sheraz Inayat Malik , Superintendents Muskaan Home , Mission Shakti Officials Khushboo Kapte , Simran Batra and staff of Muskaan Home .
