JAMMU, Sept 13: Mission Shakti, District Hub for Empowerment of Women Social Welfare Department today organized an awareness session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Balgran (a charitable home for children).
The session was aimed at sensitizing children and staff about child rights and legal protections under the POCSO Act. Advocate Kiren Thakur delivered a comprehensive lecture on the provisions of the POCSO Act, highlighting its significance in ensuring the safety and well-being of children. She also emphasized the importance of recognizing and understanding the concepts of good and bad touch, empowering students to speak up in uncomfortable situations.
District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti Shagun Manchanda informed the attendees about various welfare schemes for the children including educational scholarships, child sponsorship and child helpline number. Her address focused on promoting awareness of available resources to support the holistic development of children.
She also extended gratitude to Vinod K Raina, President of Balgran, for his support in facilitating the event. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from the children, who engaged actively throughout the programme.
