JAMMU, Jan 12: Mission Shakti District Hub for Empowerment of Women Jammu , Department of Social Welfare organised a series of public outreach and awareness camps in the rural areas of Nagrota, Mathwar, Bajalta and Phallaiwala with the objective of empowering communities through knowledge dissemination and enhanced access to women-centric welfare initiatives. The programme aimed at strengthening grassroots awareness, promoting social inclusion, and encouraging informed participation among rural women and vulnerable sections of society.
The awareness sessions witnessed active participation from women, adolescents, Self Help Group (SHG) members, and community stakeholders. District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti, Shagun Manchanda, sensitised participants on a wide range of important issues, including women’s rights and entitlements, health and nutrition, education and skill development opportunities, financial literacy, and legal safeguards for the protection and dignity of women.
Information regarding various Government women-centric schemes and services was shared by Gender Specialist, DHEW, Khushboo Kapte. Special emphasis was laid on grievance redressal mechanisms, prevention of domestic violence and child marriage, and the importance of collective community support in addressing social challenges. The sessions were conducted in an interactive manner, allowing participants to engage in open dialogue, seek clarifications, and receive practical guidance.
The programme served as a vital platform for community engagement, helping bridge the gap between Government welfare initiatives and their effective implementation at the grassroots level. Participants were guided on procedures for availing benefits under different schemes and were encouraged to act as informed ambassadors of change within their respective villages.
