JAMMU, July 2: In an effort to uplift and support the elderly, Mission Shakti – District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Jammu, in collaboration with the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Samba, organized an aids and assistive devices distribution camp at the Home for Old Age and Infirm, Amphalla.
The camp saw the distribution of a range of essential prosthetic and mobility aids to senior citizens, including walkers, wheelchairs, walking sticks, hearing aids, elbow crutches, waist belts, and knee braces. These aids were provided through ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India) with the aim of improving mobility, quality of life and dignity for the elderly residents of the old age home.
Speaking on the occasion, District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti, Shagun Manchanda highlighted the significance of such inclusive initiatives and reaffirmed the commitment to empower senior citizens through sustained support and care.
“This joint effort reflects our broader mission to promote dignity, independence, and community integration for senior citizens,” she said.
Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary of the Home for Aged and Infirm, Amphalla, appreciated the collaborative efforts of Mission Shakti and CRC for bringing meaningful change to the lives of the elderly.
The camp was attended by officials from CRC and ALIMCO including Dr. Hasnain Khan, Dr. Manisha Yadav, Rahul Sharma, and Sonali Rana, Gender Specialist, Mission Shakti, along with committee members of the Home for Old Age and Infirm, Amphalla.
