Jammu, Nov 4: Mission Shakti District Hub for empowerment of Women Jammu , Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Jammu (Samba)-PDUNIPPD, New Delhi under DEPWD, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE), Govt. of India and Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra (PMDK)organized a distribution camp under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) and assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) Scheme at Panchayat Ghar, Makwal, Phallan Mandal to Commemorate International Prosthetics and Orthotics Day.
The camp aimed to extend support and enhance the quality of life of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and elderly citizens by providing them with essential prosthetic aids and assistive devices. The initiative reflects the joint commitment of Mission Shakti and CRC towards inclusion, accessibility, and empowerment of differently-abled and elderly sections of society.
During the camp, around 50 beneficiaries received aids including wheelchairs, hearing aids, walking sticks, crutches, and other assistive devices tailored to their individual needs.
Speaking on the occasion, District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti, Shagun Manchanda, and Naveen Gupta, Administrative Officer, CRC Jammu, emphasized the importance of empowering specially-abled persons and senior citizens through continuous outreach and community-based rehabilitation initiatives and reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive development and social welfare.
Among others present were Vijay Kumar, Assistant CRC Jammu; Sudanshu Gupta, Accountant CRC; Dr. Hasnain Khan, P&O PMDK; Rahul Singh, USW PMDK; Khushboo Kapthe, Gender Specialist ,Mission Shakti and Simran Batra Accounts Assistant, Mission Shakti.
