Missing youth found dead; woman crushed to death by speeding truck

UDHAMPUR, July 9: A youth missing for the last two days, was today found dead under mysterious circumstances in a nallah at Ramnagar while an elderly woman was crushed to death by a speeding truck at Jakhani.
According to Police, body of Rashpal Singh (28), son of Krishan Chand of village Dhanwalt, in Ramnagar Tehsil, was found lying this morning in Payala Nallah, (Piran De Dawar) by some locals, who informed the Ramnagar Police Station.
Later, Police shifted the body to mortuary room of the Government Sub District Hospital Ramnagar for postmortem and other legal formalities.
Family members of the deceased said that Rashpal Singh had gone to forest area on July 7 (Sunday) for collecting fire woods and did not return since then. Police has registered a case in this connection and initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC for further investigations.
Meanwhile, in a road mishap, an unidentified elderly woman was crushed to death by a rashly driven truck on the National Highway at Jakhani. Body of the deceased has been shifted to mortuary room of Government District Hospital Udhampur for identification and postmortem.
The truck JK18A-4842, involved in the accident, was being driven by Shabir Khan son of Mohammed Shahid Khan of Qazi Kund, who was arrested on the spot. Udhampur Police has registered a case in this connection.
