Samba, Apr 27: The body of an elderly man, who had gone missing on Saturday, was recovered from the Basantar River in Jatah village of Samba district today.
Soon after he was reported missing by the family members, Jammu and Kashmir Police along with SDRF teams launched a search operation.
His clothes and slippers were found on the banks of the river, intensifying the search operation.
Despite continuous attempts on Saturday, there was no success.
However, on Sunday afternoon, SDRF personnel located the body in the river. It was then shifted to District Hospital Samba for post mortem.
After completing the necessary formalities, the body was handed over to the family for last rites.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the matter and further proceedings are underway.
