Missing BSF officer’s body recovered

NOWSHERA, July 28:  The dead body of  Dy Commandant of  Border Security Force (BSF), Tarun Gupta, who was washed away along with his Gypsy and the driver two days back in flood water of a ‘nallah’ in Seri area of Sunderbani  was recovered from a nallah in Beri Pattan area near the Line of Control this evening.
The BSF, Army and local people during intensive search operation managed to trace the body near Kalasra hamlet in Nah Panchyat area. It was trapped in rocks near Jhulla bridge of  Beri Pattan area. The body of his driver Udhay Kumar  was also recovered from the same area of this nallah last evening.
The body after fishing out from nallah was shifted to BSF camp and then taken for postmortem under police custody. The family members of the BSF officer had already reached Sunderbani yesterday from Udaipur in Rajasthan.
The  incident took place at around 3.30 am on July 26 when the BSF officer Tarun Gupta from (G -Branch) was returning from Kalal area to Sunderbani camp after visiting a location on some mission. It was raining heavily.  A nallah near Seri was swollen due to flash flood. The driver, Constable Udhay Kumar  stopped vehicle for some time but later decided to cross the nallah.  As the vehicle reached in the middle, it was washed away.
A villager noticed and  informed nearby Army camp about the incident. Later, the BSF men from 93 Battalion also reached. They found Gypsy trapped in the rocks about 400 meters down-stream but the bodies could not be traced on that day. The Gypsy was also extensively damaged. The body of the officer is being sent to his home town by the BSF authorities.
