JAMMU, Oct 2: A minor youth has been mercilessly beaten-up by Kishtwar police and Special Investigating Team (SIT) leading to serious internal injuries to him. He has been referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu by District Hospital, Kishtwar in view of his serious condition.
The police victim has been identified as Ajay Kumar son of Sewa Ram, a resident of Kishtwar.
The incident has triggered fresh tension in Kishtwar among the minorities, which was reeling back to normalcy after August 9 violence.
Sewa Ram told reporters in Kishtwar that his son despite being only 16 years old was kept in lock-up for four days and beaten-up mercilessly by SSP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal and SIT Incharge SP Shiv Kumar Chouhan.
Local people said Ajay Kumar was being forced by the two police officers to become an eye-witness in a case of arson or he would be made an accused.
They added that women of Kishtwar had held protest against the arrest of minor after which police had asked the youth to report before SIT daily during the day, where he continued to be tortured by Mr Kotwal and Mr Chouhan.
Last evening when Ajay Kumar was release, he was even unable to reach his house due to merciless beating by the two officers and felt unconscious. He was vomiting. The family took him to hospital, where he was given treatment. The doctors feared that the minor boy might have sustained internal injuries and it seems that his intestines had been ruptured due to merciless beating by the two police officers.
He has been referred to the GMC Jammu in critical condition. Local people have demanded registration of attempt to murder case against the two police officers and their immediate dismissal from the services.
