SUCHETGARH, Apr 19: Taranjit Singh Tony, general secretary of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee and DDC Suchetgarh, expressed grave concern over the safety and security of minorities under the current Modi regime, stating that they have been increasingly targeted and marginalized.
The senior Congress leader was speaking at the public meeting held at village Kalili in Suchetgarh to garner support for Congress candidate for Jammu- Reasi Lok Sabha seat, Raman Bhalla. During the meeting, Mrigesh Bhalla was also present.
Tony highlighted the alarming trend of discrimination and persecution faced by minorities across the country. He emphasized that the Modi Government’s policies and actions have only exacerbated the vulnerabilities of minority communities, leading to a palpable sense of fear and insecurity among them.
“The safety and well-being of minorities are fundamental pillars of a democratic and inclusive society. However, under the Modi rule, we have witnessed a disturbing pattern of discrimination and violence targeting minority communities,” he added.
Tony further condemned the recent incidents of hate crimes and communal violence perpetrated against minorities, citing them as clear manifestations of the Government’s failure to protect the rights of all its citizens.
He demanded accountability from the Modi regime and urge them to prioritize the protection of minorities as a cornerstone of their governance agenda. The rights and dignity of every individual, regardless of their religion or belief, must be safeguarded at all costs, he added.
Mrigesh Bhalla, the elder son of Raman Bhalla, urged the people to cast their votes in favour of his father, emphasizing his commitment to serving every individual in society regardless of their background, status. He also distributed his contact number to the public, pledging to extend assistance to the last person in need.
He highlighted the exploitation faced by people across the country under the BJP Government’s rule, asserting that the BJP has capitalized on religious sentiments to conceal its failures.
“It is time to bring about a change that prioritizes the welfare of every citizen, irrespective of their caste, creed or religion. Bhalla represents the vision of inclusive governance, where every individual is valued and supported,” he added.
