RAJOURI, Aug 9: A minor boy was killed while another seriously injured in a road accident in Kalakote area of Rajouri district today.
Reports said Police Station Kalakote today received information regarding a road accident involving a tractor without number plate, towing a water tanker on Khargala- Tatapaani road. It was told that the tractor driven by an unidentified person, was carrying two minors — Abrar Ahmed (12), son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Kurah and Tuhaib Ali (12), son of Abdul Wahid, resident of Kurah.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the tractor was being driven rashly and in negligent manner. Upon reaching near Beragoa link road the tractor overturned, resulting in the on-spot death of Abrar Ahmed and injuries to Tuhaib Ali. The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident.
On receiving information, a police party led by SDPO Kalakote Surinder Mohan reached the spot and shifted the injured to CHC Kalakote for treatment. A case under FIR No. 60/2025 has been registered at Police Station Kalakote under the relevant sections of law. The postmortem of the deceased was conducted at CHC Kalakote and the body was handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities. The police was searching for absconding driver.
