Militant held, NC-PDP workers clash

SRINAGAR, Dec 4: Security forces today arrested a militant and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district that goes to vote on December 9.
A joint operation was launched by Police and Army’s 52 RR of Army in village Chandkoti in district Baramulla today during which a militant Mohammad Arif Mir son of Mohammad Ahsan Mir of village Dawlatpora was arrested. One pistol and one grenade were recovered from his possession.
In the meantime, police in north Kashmir’s Chandoosa area of Baramulla district opened fire after a clash broke out between the workers of National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The clash broke out at village Galibal after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s rally. The NC workers tore down PDP posters and banners that led to the clash and stone-pelting.
NC candidate for Baramulla, Ghulam Hassan Rahi’s vehicle was also damaged.
Police fired in air to maintain peace.
