Militant arrested in Sopore

SRINAGAR, Jan 31: Police today arrested a local militant from Sopore who is believed to have killed a Special Police Officer (SPO) and injured an Army man last year in village Brath in Sopore in North Kashmir.
Police sources identified the arrested militant as Mushtaq Ahmad War, son of Ghulam Rasool War of Warpora. Sources said a pistol was recovered from his possession.
Police sources said that he was involved in killing of an SPO Riyazul Hassan Mir, 22, son of Haji Ghulam Hassan Mir and attacking Army jawan Tariq Ahmad Mir, 26, son of Mohammad Ramzan Mir of 5 JAK Rifles at village Brath Kalan, Sopore in August last year.
Both the security personnel had gone home for leave and were targeted by two pistol borne militants in the outskirts of the village. Police sources said that one of the persons who carried out the attack was Mushtaq Ahmed War. The sources said that investigations are going on to find out his involvements in other militancy related crimes.
