Srinagar, July 27: In a massive man hunt that has been launched by the security forces in South Kashmir against militants particularly Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) after attacks on police and Army early this month, security forces today arrested a LeT militant from Pulwama and are questioning him about LeT men who carried out recent strikes against Police and Army in South Kashmir.
Police said that on a tip off in village Wahipora in South Kashmir district of Pulwama, Srinagar police, 182 Battalion of CRPF and 55 RR of Army cordoned the house of one Ajaz Ahmad Najar son of Mohammad Yousuf resident of Wahipora Pulwama and apprehended a LeT militant Mohammad Mohsin Thoker alias Abu Hamza son of Ghulam Mohiuddin resident of Auynura, Pulwama from the house.
Police said that a mobile phone, one SIM card, one memory card, 12 letter pads of LeT and one LeT stamp were recovered from his possession.
Police was questioning Thokar as they have inputs that he might have conducted reconnaissance for Pampore attack. But so far he has not divulged anything about the Pampore attack, said sources. Police believe Qasim, Bilal Ahmad and Imtiaz Teli carried out Pampore attack killing an Army jawan and injuring the other on July 7 while Sajjad planned the attack.
Kulgam police have implicated Thokar in the killing of a Sarpanch early this year. Thokar a released militant of LeT was let off by police on bail 7 months ago. He joined militancy again after his release, police added.
Security forces are looking for leads from Thokar to reach out to Qasim, Sajjad, Bilal and Imtiaz Teli who are most wanted militants in South Kashmir and are operating on the border between Pulwama and Budgam district in the outskirts of Srinagar city.
The operation against these LeT men are going on in Puhru, Kenihama, Khanda, Gouharpora, Chuntsu, Wagoora, Soot, Ganipora villages in Chadoora area of central Kashmir district of Budgam and Pampora, Letpora, Kakpora, Sombre, Lalhar and Newa areas of South Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Meanwhile, in a joint search operation, police and Army recovered arms ammunition at Shirpora in North Kashmir district of Baramulla today.
Police said that during a joint search operation laid by police and 52 RR at village Shirpora, Baramulla one AK 47 magazine, 30 rounds of AK ammunition, two hand grenades, 14 leaves of Al-Badr letter pad and three of LeT was recovered.
