JAMMU, Sept 26: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), inaugurated a state-of-the-art Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Lab at its Kot Bhalwal Campus, here today in collaboration with iHub-AWaDH, IIT Ropar.
This is the 17th CPS Lab established nationwide under Government of India’s National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) and first of its kind in J&K.
The lab is envisioned as a hub for innovation, research and skill development in emerging fields such as Cyber-Physical Systems, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET and Dr. Mukesh Kestwal, Chief Innovation Officer, iHub-AWaDH, IIT Ropar.
The event featured the formal launch of the CPS Lab facility along with the signing and exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding between MIET and IIT Ropar’s iHub-AWaDH.
Dr. Mukesh Kestwal, Chief Innovation Officer, iHub-AWaDH, highlighted the unique aspects of the collaboration and encouraged students to explore the opportunities offered through the iHub-AWaDH initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET urged the students to fully leverage the newly established facility as a launch-pad for ambitious projects.
A handout stated that as part of the initiative students developing early stage prototypes shall be eligible to receive up to Rs. 5 lakh grants and those with viable ideas shall be eligible to receive Rs. 20 lakh seed grants. Faculty members will also be able to access research funding for their projects under this initiative.
