JAMMU, Dec 23: The Research and Development Cell at MIER College of Education organised the Research Excellence Awards Ceremony 2024–25 to honour faculty members for their outstanding scholarly contributions. The event was graced by Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean of Research Studies at the University of Jammu, as the chief guest, who encouraged faculty to undertake research that drives educational innovation and policy development.
Presiding over the event, Prof. Adit Gupta, Director of MIER and Principal of MIER College of Education, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of fostering a strong research culture among faculty. He introduced Prof. Rohmetra as a distinguished academic leader, an alumna of Model Academy and the first woman Director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM).
He noted her remarkable career spanning over three decades, including leadership roles as Rector of the Kathua and Billawar Campuses and her notable contributions to academic administration and higher education.
Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson of MIER, attended as guest of honour, while other dignitaries included Prof. Mool Raj Sharma, Controller of Examinations; Prof. Nishta Rana, Head of the School of Education; Dr. Monika Bajaj, Head of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, along with faculty and students.
Dr. Nishta Rana presented the 2024–25 research report, noting that faculty published 94 papers in journals, conference proceedings and book chapters, presented 86 papers at national and international conferences and participated in 131 webinars and workshops. She also outlined future plans for the Research and Development Cell.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Neelu Rohmetra fondly recalled her association with the institution and acknowledged its role in shaping her personal and professional journey and lauded faculty members for their dedication. She emphasised research as a tool for problem-solving and innovation in education.
The Research Excellence Awards, totaling Rs 2,42,000, were presented to 16 faculty members. Prof. Rohmetra received a memento from Dr Renu Gupta as a token of appreciation. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Priya Choudhary and was conducted by Dr Aakriti Singh.
