JAMMU, Oct 11: Ghulam Mariyam, wife of veteran Gujjar and religious leader Mian Bashir Ahmed and mother of Forest Minister Mian Altaf, passed away at her Kangan residence in Srinagar this evening.
She was 84. Mrs Mariyam, sister of former Congress Minister and Speaker Legislative Assembly Ch Mohd Aslam from Poonch, was not keeping well for the last some days. The death came at around 3.30 pm on Thursday.
According to family sources, the mortal remains of the late Mrs Mariyam will be laid to rest at Baba Nagri Wangat, Kangan after Friday prayers at around 3 pm tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the cabinet colleagues of Mian Altaf and other party legislators, have condoled the sad demise of his mother. In several condolence messages received here, Omar and others have expressed their sympathy with bereaved family and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
