JAMMU, Sept 21: Maharaja Harisingh Agricultural Collegiate (MAHC) School, Nagbani today celebrated the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh with much enthusiasm and fanfare in the school premises.
The event was graced by Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Spokesperson of J&K BJP as the chief guest while special guest on the occasion was Rajan Singh (Happy), Ex-President Yuva Rajput Sabha.
This celebration programme began with garlanding the Maharaja’s statue, paying floral tribute to him and a havan in the yagyashala. A bhajan was presented by the school music department. The students of MHAC School Nagbani presented a vibrant programme on the life and legacy of the great Maharaja.
Principal of MHAC School Nagbani, Sonia Anand reiterated the Maharaja’s vision and mission of offering the people of the region top notch education with Vedic values. She highlighted Maharaja’s liberal vision that was much ahead of times and felt indebted for his ideas on female education, ban on dowry, remarriage and compulsory primary education.
Remembering Capt Dewan Singh, ADC of the Maharaja and the former manager of the school, the Principal mentioned about his loyalty and his service towards the people until his last breath.
Both the adopted schools – Samaj Kalyan Kendra School for Hearing Handicapped, Deaf & Dumb and Vir Ram Chander Memorial Trust Batehra were presented with gifts for the students.
The bright stars who represented the school at national and international sports events were honoured on this day. They included Uday Singh (Wushu), Daksh Gabgotra (Judo) and Uttkarsh Gupta (Roll Ball World Cup).
Zorawar Singh applauded the contribution of DAV and MHAC School in carrying forward legacy of the Dogra leader.
Rajan Singh (Happy) lauded the Maharaja for accession and merging J&K with Indian Union. He appreciated the school’s efforts in imparting Dogra values and culture.
The celebration concluded with Shantipath, followed by distribution of Prasad. Sarpanches Puran Sharma and Bandana Kumari; prominent locals Krishan Sharma, Karan Singh Chib, Virender Khajuria; Roshan Bhan (Principal Samaj Kalyan Kendra School for Hearing Handicapped, Deaf & Dumb), Tania (Vir Ram Chander Memorial Trust Batehra), Nagbani faculty and students from different schools were a part of the celebration.
