DODA, Nov 22: A large number of MGNREGA job card holders held protest and demanded release of their pending wages viz CBI enquiry into the misappropriation of the funds released under MGNREGA Scheme by Rural Development Department (RDD).
MGNREGA job card holders assembled infront of BDO Office at Chilly and raised slogans in favour of their demands. They also raised anti-slogans against RDD and concerned GRD of Panchayat Malat Mukyas.
Demanding release of their pending wages, the protestors also blocked Chilly-Gandoh-Doda road.
While talking to media persons, youth leader Tanvir-ul-Haq said that they the RDD has not release their wages against the work done in 2015-16.
“We know very well that all the work done payments have been misappropriated by the concerned Block Development Officer and GRS of Panchyat Malat Mukyas during the period 2016 to 2017”, he added.
The protestors alleged that some funds under MGNREGA Scheme have been made to some selected persons, who were having hand in glove with the concerned BDO, GRS and others.
“Fake payments were released in favour of vendors without getting the material for the construction work”, they said.
They urged the Governor to order CBI enquiry into the funds released by RDD under MGNREGA Scheme.
Among others, who spoke were Shabir Mohammad Sharif, Liyaqat Ali, Maqsood Azad and Mohammad Saleem.
