SRINAGAR:The Meteorological Department has issued warning for isolated to heavy rain during the next 48 hours in Jammu and Kashmir, where maximum temperature remained below normal while the minimum temperature witnessed surge during the past 24 hours. Sun was playing hide and seek since early this morning in the Kashmir valley, where people are observing fast.
Met spokesman warned about that isolated heavy rain or thundershowers would occur in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
There could be rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 34 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours in winter capital , Jammu.
After recording surge in the minimum temperature, people woke up to a cloudy morning with winds in the summer capital of Srinagar, where sun was now playing hide and seek.
He said against yesterdays 14 degrees minimum temperature it was 17.1 degrees, a notch above normal. The minimum temperature was a degree below normal yesterday.
There could be rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 27 degrees and 15 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours in the city, again below normal.
However, the world famous ski resort of Pahalgam witnessed two degree increase in the minimum temperature. Against yesterdays 10.6 degrees it was 12.2 degrees, more than three degree above normal at Pahalgam, base camp of holy Amarnath cave shrine, starting from July 2.
There was no change in the minimum temperature at famed ski resort of Gulmarg where it was 8.5 degrees, which was 1.5 degrees below normal after 9.4 mm rainfall during the night. Qazigund recorded 15.7 degrees, Kokernag 14.4 degree and Kupwara 14.3 degrees, he said.
At Leh the night temperature was 12.1 degrees against 10.3 degrees recorded yesterday while it was 9.2 degrees at Leh, slightly less than yesterday.
He said the sky would be generally cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 24 degrees and 11 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours. (AGENCIES)
