Mentha oil furures surge 2.49 pc on strong demand

NEW DELHI, Jan 31: Mentha oil prices climbed 2.49 per cent to Rs 1,293.40 per kg in futures market today as speculators created positions, driven by strong domestic and export demand in the spot market.
Tight stocks availability in the physical market following less arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also supported the upsurge in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in February shot up by Rs 31.40, or 2.49 per cent to Rs 1,293.40 per kg in business turnover of 1,620 lots.
In a similar fashion, the oil for delivery in January shot up by Rs 26.60, or 2.12 per cent to Rs 1,279.90 per kg in 277 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators on the back of strong domestic and export demand in the spot market amid lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly led an upswing in mentha oil prices at futures trade. (PTI)
