JAMMU, June 20: A mentally retarded man was found in the canal at Trikuta Nagar area here today.
Some passerby noticed 28-year-old Tejinder Singh son of Balbinder Singh of Chatha, Govindpura, floating in the canal, and informed the police, a police official said.
Accordingly, he said, a team of police shifted him to Government Medical College Jammu, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
While the body has been shifted to the mortuary of the hospital for conducting the post-mortem examination, police have initiated inquest proceedings to further probe into the matter.
