MENDHAR, Feb 17: Various villages and hamlets in Mendhar tehsil are without electricity for over a month as the authorities have failed to restore the power supply in the area after the last snowfall.
The villages which are hit by uprooting of electric poles due to heavy snowfall included Kallar More, Jaral Pani, Bhatta Dhurian, Chandiyal Chapper, Bareli, Sangoite, Tami, Gursai, Mora Gursai.
The people of these localities have made umpteen pleas to PDD authorities to restore the power supply by erecting the new poles but to no avail. The complete black out has added to the woes of people in general and school going children in particular. They said despite the failure of authorities to restore the power supply the consumers in the area are getting regular bills from the department.
The poles have been uprooted and lines snapped due to heavy snowfall and department did not take any steps in restoring the same till date.
However, when a local officer of PDD was contacted he said the department needs 200 electric poles to restore the LT Line and power supply will only be restored after the poles are arranged by the Government.
