MENDHAR, Sept 5: The people from both the communities from Mendhar town today held protest demonstration as the local authorities had not made any arrangements to clean main bazaar and other localities on the occasion of Shri Krishan Janamashtami festival here today.
Sanatan Dharam Sabha Mendhar led by Satish Sharma, Geeta Bhawan, Bajrang Dal, Vishav Hindu Parishad members supported Hanuman Mandir Committee, Beopar Mandal and several other social organizations had organised a grand Shobha Yatra on the occasion of Shri Krishan Janamashtami festival today in the town. The local Block Development Officer/ Block Panchayat Officer and Panchayat Secretary had also been informed about it and moreover Panchayat authorities are mainly responsible for this job in the town in the absence of Municipal Committee.
As the Shobha Yatra was about to be taken out, the members of these organizations found that no cleanliness activities have been performed in the entire town and there was no lime markings at all on the Shobha Yatra route as well which is often done by the local Block Development Authorities. There were large heaps of garbage in the main market and all other localities. This irked the locals of the area and they started protest demonstration and shouted slogans against BDO and Panchayat secretary and demanded action against them.
They alleged that even during Eid or other festivals also the Panchayat authorities skip such activity while when a VIP arrives, they perform this job without any delay. Hardly on national festivals January 26 or August 15, cleanliness and lime marking is visible in the town. They condemned the local administration as well for it. During yatra many devotees/ women were seen covering their face and nose with handkerchief or `Dupatta’ to avoid foul smell coming from heaps of garbage lying in the town. It also created obstacle for the smooth movement of Shoba Yatra chariots.
