MENDHAR, Jan 31: The Mendhar sub-division, having over 1.5 lakh people across three tehsils, continues to suffer due to lack of basic amenities.
Dilapidated roads, mounting traffic congestion, unattended garbage heaps, and waste dumping in the local river have made life miserable for residents.
Locals have long been demanding that Mendhar be declared a Municipal area to ensure better sanitation, road maintenance, and administrative services. However, despite repeated appeals, no concrete action has been taken.
Expectations are now high from Mendhar’s MLA and Cabinet Minister Javed Rana to Government for a resolution.
Residents, including Rahul Sharma, Ramesh Bali, Mohammad Ikhlaq, and Mazhar Iqbal, expressed concerns over the deteriorating sanitation system, rising health hazards, and worsening road conditions. They have urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to act swiftly and grant Municipal status to Mendhar, paving the way for much-needed development of the town.
