Mehbooba’s speech

Sir,
It has reference to the news ”Unfortunate whatever happened with KPs in past: Mehbooba” (DE 01-04-18) Mehbooba Mufti made an emotional speech at a function organised by a Kashmiri Pandit Organisation in New Delhi. Without questioning the change of her heart towards KPs, her Government has proved no different at ground zero vis-a-vis KPs. The successive State Governments contributed to the policy of denting emotional, social and economic attachment of KPs to their roots in the Valley. One of the worst policies pursued by the successive
Governments in this direction is the policy of taking over their  ancestral land in the name of so-called public utility.
The examples are galore where KPs land has been taken over unnecessarily by the Government without informing not to speak of taking consent of the owners.
To cite an exmple, Umanagri, Brariangan in Anantnag district is one of the villages that housed around 80 Hindu households  on the eve of migration. The  Shamshan Ghat has been allegedly occupied and a school building constructed on the land. A large chunk of the land has also been fenced for the ground. The land is in slope with walnut trees that serves no purpose other than  usurping the land. Similarly the transmission line has been laid and transformer  installed  in the same village on KP land unnecessarily with the sole  motive of devaluing the Pandit land.
To conclude, Mehbooba should make a policy vis-a-vis KPs that indicates a departure from anti-Pandit policy in reality.
Yours etc…
Satish Pandit
