POONCH, May 14: PDP president and former J&K Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today visited different areas of Poonch along with the district president Shamim Ganai and other party leaders, and assessed the damages caused in Pakistani shelling.
She met the family members of deceased and injured persons, and offered her condolences and expressed grief.
Talking to media persons later, Mehbooba Mufti said that the family members of Qari Mohd Iqbal is in deep pain because many national media channels called him terrorist, more than that he martyred in shelling for which all channels have not yet apologized. “I visited many victim families who are having complaint that people were left unaware by the administration due to which we suffered major loss of lives and property as well, as it was natural that Pakistan will retaliate,” she said.
She said that nobody will accept the terrorism and what happend in Pahalgam but she wonders why these media channels create atmosphare of war and are so blood thirsty. Don’t they see that innocent people died, the houses they construct with hard work damaged, everything shattered?.
” I went to Uri as well but Poonch has suffered devastating loss during Pakistani shelling and we demand that all those died must be given the status of martyrs. Job be given to one member of the deceased’s family, and Rs 50 lakh to the people whose houses are fully damaged and Rs 25 lakh at least to house partially damaged and accordingly to the injured persons” she added.
Mehbooba said that a family in Surankote told that those who are covered under insurance J&K Bank is not providing them benefit saying that it was war.
“I told from the day first that war is not the solution of anything, innocent people including children lost lives from both the sides. Now when ceasefire has taken places, it should not be taken as event but efforts must be done to continue it by both the countries” she added.
