JAMMU, Apr 10: Reacting sharply to the statement of former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti for instigating the public to defy vehicular ban on Wednesdays and Sundays, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded her immediate arrest after lodging an FIR against her for instigating public to break law.
Chief spokesperson of BJP, Sunil Sethi said that Mehbooba Mufti wants to create chaos for pity political gains and in the process is endangering lives of public whom she is instigating as security forces will have no option but to use force against such persons who breaks law and which may result in loss of lives. He said perhaps that is what Mehbooba desires as she may get more votes by instigating public, he added.
Sethi further noted that politics in the State has gone to the lowest ebb when a former Chief Minister has no regard for laws and not only she is breaking law herself but also asking her supporters to do it. He said that restrictions on vehicular traffic of civilians on these two days in the week is well thought of strategy to stop recurrence of Pulwama like incidents which may target security forces or even common men.
He further said that restrictions are on Jammu and Kashmir Highway and while 200 kms of Highway is in Jammu only 80 kms is in Kashmir. While inconvenience is caused to general public, the population of Jammu province is understanding the necessity of such inconvenience and not reacting. Only in Kashmir some vested elements want to exploit situation and sentiments of public during election times to spill blood in the streets, Sethi added.
He said that Government has already provided exceptions to the restrictions and more can also be considered where there are genuine difficulties but it should be well known to all that breaking law is not only condonable but strict action should be taken against persons breaking laws and asking others to do the same.
