JAMMU, July 13: All Jammu and Kashmir Megh Sabha, today organized press conference at their head office Rehari in Jammu, under the leadership of Narinder Datt, president of the Sabha to discuss the burning issues of the Schedule Caste community.
While interacting with the media persons, Datt raised the issues of atrocities being committed on the SC women few days back in Pargwal area of Akhnoor, where four women were beaten up by the Upper Caste men over the issue of land. He added whatever be the issue, whatsoever the caste of ladies, but in our Indian culture as well as per Hinduism, those who beat women are not human beings.
If we look back into the history of Jammu and Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh started several welfare policies for the betterment of the SC communities, opened the doors of worship places for all, started various welfare programs for SC women like end to early child marriage, compulsory education for girls. Even he also raised the voice for the welfare of SC communities in his first ever round table conference held at London in 1930.
But at present, various leaders from Rajput community following the same path as shown by Maharaja Hari Singh and other great Intellectuals and specially Yuva Rajput Sabha, are projecting the issues of Dogras’ of Jammu. But SCs here being Dogras are facing different type of problems. He appealed the leaders of various communities to come forward and look into the issues of SC community and send a loud message to one and all to respect all the communities and specially the women folk of every community. Only civil society can prevent such acts against the women and the other weak and socially backward communities. The anti-social elements in the communities be identified and punished for indulging in such acts. He also sought action against the people involved in the Pargwal incident.
Those who were present in the meeting included- Ram Lal Bhagat (Chairman Advisory Board), Rajinder Bhagat (vice-president), Ravi Kant Bhagat (State Coordinator), Vishal Bhagat (President-Pouni), Amar Nath Bhagat (Cashier), Som Raj, Anil Kumar and Ashok Kumar.
