JAMMU, Apr 12: An informative and academically enriching session titled “Update in Oncology (Clinical Updates on Common Cancers)” was held at Radisson Blu Hotel here on Saturday, bringing together leading oncologists and healthcare professionals to discuss recent advancements in cancer care.
The programme was jointly organized by Dr Shyam Aggarwal, Chairman and Head of Medical Oncology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi, and Dr Deepak Bharti, Senior Consultant in Medical and Hemato-Oncology at SMVDNSH Katra, in collaboration with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
The conclave focused on developments in diagnosis and management of common cancers, with emphasis on early detection, multidisciplinary treatment, and evidence-based clinical practices.
The academic sessions were curated and moderated by Dr Deepak Bharti, who also delivered a keynote address highlighting evolving treatment approaches, precision oncology, and the need for updated clinical practices to improve patient outcomes.
Doctors from across the region actively participated in the discussions, making the event interactive and knowledge-driven.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Dr Ashish Gulia, Director of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Punjab; Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal GMC Jammu; Dr Yash Pal Sharma, Executive Director SMVDIME; Dr Muthu Mathavan, Facility Director SMVDNSH; and Dr Viji Venkatesh, Managing Trustee of Friends of Max and Board Member of The Max Foundation.
Among other eminent faculty members present were Dr Saumitra Rawat, Padma Shri awardee, Dr Shikha Halder, Dr Arvind Kumar, Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul, Dr Ashwin Mallya, Dr S Ethel Shangne, Dr Seema Gulia, and Dr Rahul Modi.
The organisers said such initiatives are important for continuous medical education and strengthening oncology care standards across the country.
