Mayor stresses on expediting work on Tawi River Front

Demands immediate posting of STP, PRO in JMC

JAMMU, Nov 1: The Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Rajinder Sharma today urged the Government to expedite work on much talked about Tawi River Front so that it is completed in a stipulated time frame.
The issue was raised by Mayor in a meeting with Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Hera Gupta today. He said expediting work on river front is imperative as the emotions of people of Jammu are attached to it.
To improve the working of JMC the Mayor also impressed upon the Commissioner Secretary that a Senior Town Planner (STP) be posted in JMC without further delay as the people are suffering for delay in approval of building plans as the post of Senior Town Planner in JMC is lying vacant for a long time.
Dheraj Gupta informed the Mayor that the post will be filled up within one or two days.
The Mayor also informed the meeting that for fast online service delivery, the JMC is going to hire the services of experts to make the server fast. He also stressed posting of the Public Relations Officer (PRO) in JMC to have a liaison with media.
The Mayor also stressed on releasing of funds under city grants for lanes and drains so that the work on the same can be started.
Mayor also informed the meeting that JMC is working on a contemplated plan to increase the Revenue of the Civic body. He said the sustainability of every organization depends on Revenue generation.
He also stressed the Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development that under EESL Command Control and Management System (CCMS) be installed to repair the lighting system on war footing basis in the city.
He took PDD to task for not doing its job properly due to which JMC has to suffer and face public wrath as well as lighting system is not working properly.
Mayor reiterated that no tankers will be given to VIPs for supply of water and water tankers henceforth will be given to common masses in those areas which are facing water scarcity or where the water supply remains disrupted.
He also stressed on releasing the Capex budged in time saying the JMC receives the first installment of the budget in July or August due to which tendering process is delayed and it gets completed by November hence there is no time left for execution of work due to which people suffer badly. Moreover, approval is sought twice for the grant of funds which also delays the execution of work. He said that the administration should pay attention to it so that the people do not suffer in future.
