JAMMU, Aug 21: Continuing the drive to provide better development as well as civic amenities to the people of Jammu city, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) along with Surinder Singh Chowdhary Councillor of Ward No 29 today conducted an extensive tour in the various localities of Shakti Nagar and its adjoining areas and kick started the upgradation of drains and construction of lane number 10 Shakti Nagar Jammu of Ward No 29 by laying of best quality tiles. The works will be completed at the estimate cost of Rs. 17 lakh.
Mayor met with local people and listened to their grievances regarding sanitation, disilting of nallahs, rectification of defunct street lights, encroachment and traffic problems in the main bazaar of Shakti Nagar during peak hours, lifting of stray dogs/animals etc.
Mayor assured that all their genuine issues would be resolved on priority basis. He said that the start of this development work has been delayed only due to lockdown on account of deadly Coronavirus as construction material and sufficient number of workers were not available and now the work has been kick started which was the long pending demands of the locals as due to water logging it often enters in the low lying areas, causing great hardships especially to the school going children as well as old persons.
He directed the Engineering Wing to execute the work with best quality material, up to the satisfaction of the locals and complete it within the stipulated time period. He urged the people don’t throw polythenes, garbage, filth etc in the public lanes, drains & nallahs, avoid using single used plastics , polythene carry bags in their daily life, adopt the habit of segregation of dry & wet waste separately at their own level, plant more and more saplings in and around their localities where sufficient space is available to make the environment eco- friendly so that Jammu city can be made neat, clean and green and improve its ranking towards becoming a smart city.
Later Mayor also convened a meeting of electrical section of JMC in presence of Dheeraj Jandial, Chief Accounts Officer which was also attended by L.S Jamwal Executive Engineer (Electrical) S. Jagdish Singh Bali, Assistant Executive Engineer (electrical), Junior Engineers (Electrical) as well as other staff members of the electrical section if Jammu Municipal Corporation. Mayor reviewed the overall functioning of the section and directed them to work with more zeal and dedication in the field as well in the office, attends the public grievances on priority basis.
