JAMMU, Sept 23: Continuing his endeavour to provide better development and civic amenities to the people of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith Sharda Kumari, Councilor of Ward number 47, conducted an extensive tour in the different localities of the ward today.
The Mayor met with locals and listened to their issues concerning JMC and other departments i.e. insanitary conditions, proper completion / maintenance of drainage system in their locality, construction of left over lanes, rectification of defunct LED Street Lights, lifting of stray dogs / animals on routine basis etc.
Mayor kick started the macadamization works of roads and interior lanes, which is being executed by Sewerage & Drainage Department Jammu that has allotted the work to M/s Brij Gopal Construction Company Private Ltd. Engineers of UEED as well as representatives of the said company namely Vishal Chopra alongwith his field staff were also present there. Mayor was apprised by the concerned Department that the black topping work was due l before rainy season but because of shortage of manpower and prevailing pandemic corona virus, it was not carried out.
Mayor informed that the blacktopping of 400 meters stretch from Qasim Nagar to Sheikh Nagar has been started in 1st Phase. He directed the concerned agency to complete the blacktopping as well as restoration of tile works in the bye lanes of the areas with best quality material where UEED has completed their works of installing main holes / pits in the ward within the stipulated time frame so that the locals as well as devotees who come to have obeisance at Bahu Fort Temple may not face hardships while passing through the area. He asked the department to complete the black topping & other related development works upto Pacca Talab Bahu Fort to give relief to the inhabitants of the this area also as they have been suffering since long due to broken roads and lanes.
Mayor appealed to the General Public to come forward and join hands with Jammu Municipal Corporation in maintaining proper sanitation as without the help of the citizens it is hard to achieve the goal of “Clean Jammu Green Jammu”.
Sardar Dalbir Singh, Ward 47 President and other prominent inhabitants were also present during the tour.
