BATHINDA, Aug 8: Max Super Speciality Hospital today announced the launch of CORI surgical robot, a state-of-the-art robotics-assisted platform for joint replacement surgeries.
With this launch, Max Hospital, Bathinda, has become a robotics-equipped facility offering advanced knee and hip replacement surgeries.
Addressing a press conference, Dr Dilveer Brar, Director Orthopedics & Joint replacement at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Bathinda said, “This new robotic navigation technology allows patients to benefit from the combination of human insight and the experience of senior clinicians, backed by robust technology.
He said, “the newly launched robotic system for joint replacement enables the surgeons to pre-plan the procedure by assessing each patient’s specific condition and predicting joint stability across the full range of motion, ensuring greater precision and reducing the risk of implant malalignment. Compared to conventional joint replacement procedures, robotic surgery offer numerous advantages, including smaller incisions, enhanced accuracy, improved outcomes, faster pain relief, quicker recovery and reduced hospital stay.”
“With this advanced technology, surgeons can perform minimally invasive procedures through small incisions using a console-guided system and high-resolution 3D imaging that displays anatomical structures in natural colors,” he added.
Dr Brar further said, “the CORI Surgical System utilises ‘CT-free ‘ technology in knee replacement surgery, specifically for creating a 3D model of the knee without the need for preoperative CT scans. The system offers natural hand-eye coordination along with a built-in microphone that ensures seamless communication within the operating theatre. Its high level of precision enables surgeons to avoid injury to nerves and organs, making it especially valuable in complex surgeries”.
