Maternity Hospital at Gandhi Nagar by April 2014: Bhalla

JAMMU, Jan 30: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today said that the Rs. 55 crore 200-beded 7-storey Maternity Hospital at Gandhi Nagar is likely to be completed by April 2014.
Aimed to ease rush in Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital, Gandhi Nagar Hospital and Govt. Sarwal Hospital, the upcoming hospital would have all modern child care facilities.
The Minister who visited the construction site was briefed about the status of work on the prestigious hospital .
Superintending Engineer, Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department P L Bhushan, Executive Engineer, R&B D K Rampaul besides other senior engineers of the R&B Department accompanied the Minister.
Mr. Bhalla asked the executing agency to ensure the completion of the hospital within stipulated 20-month time. He said the hospital would have all latest facilities like labour room, special child care ward, pediatrics wards, modern blood bank, ultra sound, operation theatre, X-ray, ECG, toilet blocks, parking, canteen besides faculty member rooms. He said on its completion, the hospital would cater to the healthcare needs of Lower Gaddigarh, Chatha Farm, Chatha Mill, Bhour Camp, Karan Bagh, Gandhi Nagar, Suchetgarh, R. S. Pura and Miran Sahib at their doorstep hospitals. He asked the executing agency to complete the project within stipulated time frame so that the people could avail the benefits at the earliest.
The Minister informed that the Government has submitted a detailed project report to Central Government for construction of Nursing College in his home constituency. He said Government was making strenuous efforts to provide all basic amenities to the people of the State like drinking water, electricity, education, healthcare, road connectivity besides better lanes and drains, adding that there was no constraint of funds in making Jammu and Kashmir a model state.
Listing other healthcare projects in Gandhi Nagar constituency, Mr. Bhalla said the Government has earmarked Rs. 3.17 crore for construction of Primary Health Centre at Lower Gaddigarh and Rs. 1.60 crore for Bhour Camp Primary Health Centre. He said the work on the twin projects was under progress on war-footing and would be completed within prescribed time frame.
Later, the Minister also attended annual day function of Jammu Public Higher Secondary School, Sainik School.
Additional Director General of Police Dr. S P Vaid, Principal of the school Santosh Sharma besides students, parents and prominent personalities of the area were present.
The students of different classes presented a colourful cultural programme which was highly appreciated by the audience.
