AKHNOOR, Dec 25: Three people were seriously injured when a matador they were travelling in overturned on the Akhnoor-Kalith road near Mawa village this afternoon. The injured include the driver, a pregnant woman, and a child.
According to police, the matador (JK02X-2584) was coming from Mawa Village towards Akhnoor when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle overturned several times and fell into a deep ditch beside the road, they said. The injured have been identified as driver Raj Kumar of Mawa, Sushma Devi, wife of Babu Ram, and her 5-year-old son Manish Kumar, all residents of Mawa village.
Eyewitnesses said soon after the accident, local villagers rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Sub-District Hospital, Akhnoor, in a private vehicle.
Doctors referred the driver and the pregnant woman to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, for further treatment, while the child was admitted to the Akhnoor hospital, they said.
As per police, the condition of all three was stable when the last report poured in.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Akhnoor and started further investigation into the matter.
