JAMMU, July 29: The Mass Housing Flats, colony, Thathar, Bantalab, has plunged into darkness due to alleged callousness of the authorities of the Power Development Department (PDD) for no fault of theirs.
A delegation of the colony led by Vijay Kumar alleged that despite clearing electric bills in time, the colony has been forced to darkness from past 30 hours by the PDD authorities.
The delegation further said that students as also Muslim brethren living in the flats are facing hardships in these hot and humid conditions.
“The 13 families residing in the flats apart from common people included a cancer patient and diabetic patients, so the long power cut from 3 pm yesterday, without any electric fault is simply a violation of Human Rights,” the delegation added.
The delegation also said that power failure has led to the shortage of water and if the situation remained the same there will be water scarcity in the colony too.
The residents said that they had approached MP Madan Lal Sharma for redressal of their burning problem, adding that he was not available at his residence.
