KISHTWAR, May 10: During a programme organised in Gouri Shanker Mandir Sarkoot here today, Balidan Diwas was observed and floral tribute were paid to the martyrs of Kishtwar who sacrificed their lives while fighting terrorism.
The programme was attended by a large number of people including family members of the martyrs.
Mahatama Ram Sharan Dass Shastri, Prof. Surinder Sen (Vibagh Seh Sanghchalak), MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar and convener Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Arvind Parihar addressed the gathering and urged everyone to remain united.
Remembering the sacrifices of martyrs, the speakers said that it is our responsibility to follow the footsteps of these Heroes of Kishtwar.
With tears in eyes, the family members of the martyrs attended the function.
Leaders of various political, social and religious organizations and a large number of ex-servicemen were also present on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that on May 10, 1993, senior Hindu leader Satish Bhandari was assassinated by terrorists and since then Balidan Diwas is being organised on every May 10 in the memory of all the martyrs of Kishtwar district.
