JAMMU, Nov 28: Martand Singh, Trustee of the Hari Tara Charitable Trust and Director of the Amar Singh Sports & Youth Initiative, J&K, met Joint Secretary Culture Lily Pandeya in New Delhi and discussed the ongoing development and proposed upgradation of the Amar Mahal Museum in Jammu.
He briefed the Ministry about the conservation and preservation measures already underway at the Museum and explained how the institution has been working to safeguard Jammu and Kashmir’s artistic and cultural legacy.
Singh also highlighted the Museum’s growing role in tourism promotion through its scholarship programmes, cultural events, and youth-focused initiatives carried out under the Hari Tara Charitable Trust.
He further stressed the need to protect monuments, museums and traditional art forms across both regions of Jammu and Kashmir, noting that these heritage assets form an important link between the past and future generations.
During the meeting, Singh extended a personal invitation to the Joint Secretary to visit Amar Mahal Museum and review the ongoing work.
The Ministry briefed him on the Museum Grants Scheme and other Government of India initiatives aimed at strengthening museums and cultural institutions across the country.
Singh also expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Ministry of Culture & Tourism under Minister Gajendra Shekhawat in supporting heritage conservation and cultural development.
