JAMMU, Feb 13: A large number of youth from Arnia area of Bishnah Assembly Constituency joined Congress Party today.
During a membership drive programme a significant number of enthusiastic youth from Arnia block in Jammu district joined the Congress. The event was organized and led by Neeraj Kundan, the District Congress president (Jammu- Rural), who has been actively engaging with grassroots workers and youth in the area as part of the party’s ongoing outreach efforts.
The program was organised at Powal village, Arnia, and witnessed a large turnout of young participants, reflecting growing discontent among the youth with the current political landscape. The new entrants explicitly stated that they were joining the Congress party due to the anti-youth policies pursued by the BJP-led government at the Centre.
They highlighted the Agniveer scheme as a major setback, describing it as the biggest jolt to border-area youth and the rural population at large. Many expressed frustration over the short-term recruitment model, which they believe undermines long-term job security, pension benefits, and career stability in the armed forces-traditionally a preferred option for youth from rural and border regions like Jammu.
Addressing the gathering, Kundan emphasized that the Congress Party remains the only true champion of youth welfare. He pointed out the Congress’s historical commitment to policies that prioritize education, employment, and empowerment for the younger generation. He sharply criticized the BJP’s unfulfilled promise of generating two crore jobs annually, calling it a blatant betrayal that has left millions of youth disillusioned and unemployed.
Ex-Councilor Yash Budda, Sarpanch Subash Saini, Roop Lal Bhagat, Ravi Gorka, Satpaul , Rahul and other prominent party workers joined the program.
This event underscores the Congress Party’s ongoing campaign in Jammu and Kashmir to mobilize youth against perceived failures in employment and security policies, positioning the party as a reliable alternative ahead of future electoral battles. The large participation at Powal village signals a potential shift in youth sentiment across the block.
