JAMMU, Jan 17: A significant meeting of prominent women activists from the Chhamb and Akhnoor Assembly Constituencies took place today demonstrating a formidable commitment to social justice and empowerment in the region.
The gathering was spearheaded by the working president and former Deputy Chief Minister of J&K, Tara Chand.
The meeting was graced by the chief guest, Shameema Raina, J&K Mahila Congress president. Sharing insights on women’s rights and community engagement, Raina emphasized the crucial role women play in shaping democratic processes and advocating for constitutional values. She stressed upon the women to strengthen the Congress Party in this area at booth level and also in all the Assembly constituencies of Jammu region. She said the Mahila Congress works to empower women in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the session, Tara Chand rallied the women activists present, urging them to participate in the upcoming “Samvidhan Bachao Rally Yatra,” scheduled for January 18. The rally will commence from Satwari Chowk and conclude at Ambedkar Chowk, under the leadership of J&K Congress president Tariq Hameed Kara. He conveyed that the rally aims to raise awareness about Constitutional Rights and encourage active civil participation among women.
“Today, we stand at a pivotal moment where the power of women in democracy can no longer be understated. Together, we will march for our Constitutional Rights and voice concerns that affect our communities,” he added.
The meeting garnered enthusiastic support from the attendees, characterized by a resolute spirit of solidarity and determination. Women leaders voiced their commitment to once again proving that they are indispensable catalysts for positive change in society.
Other prominent leaders who attended the rally included- Praveena Akhtar, Tehseena Bukhari, Bachno Devi, Neelam Kumari, Kanta Devi, Sarfo Devi and others.
